-Graze!-
Hm it has been ages since I last blogged. Ok I put it down to busy-ness at work. Then again many a times it has been pure laziness!
Met with up with one of my university friends tonight and we got to go to Graze! In case you take it in the literal sense, Graze is a relatively new restaurant (ok it's not that new cos it opened last May) located in Rochester Park. I've been wanting to go there ever since it was splashed all over the papers it is a nice place to be at.
And my wish came true tonight. Then again it is pretty inaccessible. The only way to get there is either by car or cab which was the former for me as my friend was kind enough to drive me down from my home. And he drove me back as well. Hee as ming says: I have a life to be driven around. ;p
For starters we had the salt and pepper grilled scallops. It was a tad expensive at $19 but the sweetness of the scallops really came through tempered with the sweetness of the juliennes of mango.
Next was our main courses namely tiger prawn linguine and prosciutto wrapped butter fish. My personal preference was the fish as the saltiness of the prociutto accentuated the tenderness of the fish very well. My soft spot had to be the vanilla pear vinegarette. I kept on asking my friend to eat more!
Of course the last course was dessert. We had the Graze black and white pudding plate. In terms of presentation it was slightly disappointing as I expected a more sophiscated array of desserts. But the sight of the dark chocolate oozing out of the pudding was more than enough to make us both drool. In comparison, the white chocolate pudding was not really my cup of tea. However my friend kept me really amused by going: wonderful, superb etc! He even said it to the waitress! In his words: dessert is the best course.
In all honesty, I have to agree the dessert did not disappoint. Nor did the entree. However the main courses did not really live up to our expectations. Next time I shall try other main courses.
The dinner came up to quite a substantial amount but it was a treat. LOL...I am truly blessed!
The only minus point was as we were dining al fresco, I got bitten a few times by mosquitos! On the whole I was rather happy with the entire ambience and service, not forgetting the food!
If you are looking for a nice place to catch up with your friends, do consider Graze. Be forewarned though. It will set you back at least a hundred. Our dinner was close to 140 for just 2 persons.
Lest all you think all I am concerned about is the food, I did have a nice time too. It was fun catching up on old times and dropping by NUS after that. The security guard must have thought us mad and the few undergrads we saw at the foundation building were startled to see 2 strangers walking in.
However the joke of the night was my friend being called uncle by an old man playing with his grandchild in the new admin block.
All in all, it was an enjoyable night. Now I know what it means to be wined and dined! ;p
